Gel Couture, Essie’s latest collection hit the shelves just in time for the Fashion Week! With an eye-catching design the bottles look absolutely fabulous! And have you heard? They promise up to 14 days of luxurious wear and instant gel-like shine. Say what?!? Let’s try out a few and see for ourselves!
Essie Gel Couture
I just love collections with a story. This Gel Couture collection was build up around fashion weeks. From the design of pieces to the pre-show details, the actual fashion show and the after party, every part is included. I had so much fun browsing through the names of all 42 shades! It is amazing how much effort and focus the marketing department has put into getting the story just right. Kudos!
Now, for the bottles. Aren’t they just absolutely fabulous? They could be right up there on the catwalk themselves. With their twisted design I find they look just like a fitting doll: from shoulders to a tiny waist and flared hips. So cute! It would be a shame to put them away in a drawer.
Time for a fitting!
I have had my nails done a couple of times with a gel finish but it would be pretty amazing to get the same results at home. Essie promises up to 14 days of luxurious wear and an instant gel-like shine without using a UV lamp. Sounds pretty awesome, no? I tried out the neutral Twill seeker and deep Drop the gown: no base coat, 2 layers of nail varnish and a topcoat.
Twill seeker (atelier)
A color described by Essie as an enchanting pewter with sage. I have also heard it described as a dark blue/greyish color but I find it looks more like a deep purple/eggplant shade with a green shimmer. Truly gorgeous in a rather unique way. I definitely see myself wearing it as a winter color or on darker fall days.
Drop the gown (afterparty)
This is an elegant and luxurious ruby red shade. It reminds me of ball gowns and black-tie events and screams sophistication. I think it is a color that fits all seasons, not just fall and winter: a true classic!
I had such fun discovering Essie’s latest collection. The quality of the nail varnishes are superb although I still have to wait and see if they make the promised 14 day mark. The texture of the varnish is smooth and gooey and covers your nails nicely in two layers. Adding the topcoat intensifies the color and gives them a little bit more shine. Oh, and the little brush fans out so easily it makes painting your nails a piece of cake 🙂
